Stash Report - 15 May 2016

A little added and some used this week.  "Out" is backing and binding for the tumbler quilt.  This one is now finished.  In was a couple of FQs just because.  They'll get cut today to add to the tumblers and strips.

I started Growing Up Odd from weddingdressblue yesterday.  I've been cutting 2" strips as I was cutting for the Film at Five quilt.  Those all got cut into 2" squares yesterday, and I've started piecing.  I'm planning to make this as a baby quilt or throw size quilt.

Numbers for the week:
In this week:                                      0.5 yds
Out this week:                                   4.04 yds

In YTD:                                           16.79 yds
Out YTD:                                        51.69 yds
Net for 2016:                                   34.90 yds USED

I think this is the earliest I've actually used over 50 yds.  So far this year, I've finished 4 UFOs and finished 4 new quilts.

Stash Report - 8 May 2016

It's been almost a month since my last stash report.  It looks like this is becoming a pattern.

Since my last report, i've finished two quilt tops.  The first is a tumbler quilt - baby quilt size.  The second is Film at Five from the Wedding Dress Blue blog.  I like a lot of the tutorials from this blog, and will probably start Growing Up Odd next.  I've been cutting 1 1/2" strips from fat quarters as I cut the 2 1/2: strips for Film at Five.  I've also been cutting tumblers as I had the fat quarters out.

I did add fat quarters on a couple of trips during this month, as well - they've all been going into the strips and tumblers.

This afternoon, I'm aiming for piecing a back for the tumblers quilt and getting that loaded.

Added since last report:           3.5 yds
Used since last report:              8.2 yds

Added YTD:                           16.29 yds
Used YTD:                              47.65 yds
Net for 2016:                           31.35 yds USED

I'm liking where I'm going for the year.  I'm buying to freshen things up, but am using both what I buy and from stash.  I'm doing a better job of getting tops quilted as I make them, and I'm ending up with finished quilts.

Stash Report - 10 April 2016

It's been about a month since my last stash report.  In that time, I've made another quilt top - throw size.  This one is also from a Kim Brackett book - the quilt is Summer Daze.  Instead of the 30's fabrics she used in the sample quilt, I've used blues and greens.  As soon as I finished piecing this one, I made a backing and got it loaded on the longarm - and it's sitting there still.  Yesterday I got thread for quilting, so that will be today's project.

Other than that, not much sewing going on.  I took my Babylock Unity in for a routine service a week and a half ago, and it's not ready yet.  I thought I was being smart - taking it in before the day she does service work, to be gone while we were out of town, but alas, she didn't get to it.  And no call after this week's service day, either.  I could pull out the Featherweight if I really needed to stitch something, I suppose.

Friday I stopped and bought a few FQs of novelties to add to the tumbler quilt I'm making, and when I went in for thready yesterday, I added a few more.  Yesterday morning, I started cutting those, will count that out when I get them all cut - probably later today.

Stash Report - 13 March 2016

I've been sewing some before work on my Summer Daze quilt.  I have all the blocks pieced now.

The only fabric out was for a pillow project with my grandson.  He's been sick with the stomach bug, and I've been taking care of him.  Yesterday he felt well enough to do something other than lay on the couch, so we had our first lesson in the sewing machine.  I had a piece of left-over flannel - blue with robots - that we used to make a pillow.  This is the kid who loves how things work - so he was fascinated with everything about the sewing machine.

I've also been knitting more hats.  Sitting with a sick child gives plenty of time for knitting.  I'm now up to 15 1/2 hats knit this year.

Stash Report - 6 March 2016

I've missed a couple of weeks of stash reports as I've had some busy weekends and not much sewing lately.

This week I did finish cutting out for my next lap quilt out of the Kim Brackett books - this one is Summer Daze.  It's in 30's and white in the book.  Mine is blues and greens, with off-whites as the background.  I bought a 2 1/2" strip pack (14 strips) of off-whites to use for background, and a few FQs to add to my greens and blues.

Stash report - 14 Feb 2016

A good week for the stash report.  Backings use a big chunk at a time, and I have two backings in this week's report.

First I made backing and binding for the Warm Wishes quilt last Sunday.  That quilt is finished.  Probably the first time I've made a quilt start-to-finish in one day (even if it is a baby quilt).

I pulled out a tan from one of the bags from my mom to back my braid quilt.  That quilt is now quilted and trimmed, waiting for me to make some binding.

Used this week:                6.46 yards
Added this week:              0      yards

Used YTD:                      29.39 yards
Added YTD:                      2.50 yards
Net for 2016:                   26.89 yards

So far it's continuing to be a productive year.

Stash Report - 7 February 2016

More sewing this week.  I quilted and bound my Simply Woven baby quilt.  I used a piece of flannel from the stash for backing, so it's very cosy.  Just simple loops for the quilting.  That makes 2 new finishes for this year, along with my one UFO completion.

Yesterday, I made a new baby quilt top from the Warm Wishes pattern.  This morning I'm trying to decide if it should have borders or not.  Then to put together a back and get that loaded for quilting.  I might be able to get that done before it's time to put together Superbowl munchies for dinner and watch the game.

Stash Report - 31 January 2016

Not much sewing here this week.  After a fall on the ice on Monday, I was not able to get around much, and didn't make it in to sew until Saturday.  But yesterday I got the Vintage Star quilt trimmed, and made my binding for it.  That quilt is now finished.  I like how it turned out.

Stash Report - 24 January 2016

More sewing this week.
I finished the top to my Vintage Stars (red/black) quilt, made the backing and everything is loaded on the longarm waiting for me to get started with the quilting.

I also made a baby-quilt size (36 x 48) Simply Woven quilt - this is a quilt-along on the Stashbuster yahoo group.  The blocks were put into a top yesterday.

Also yesterday, I offered to have Paige quilt with me.  Since the design was was up, I pulled out the cupcake blocks from a swap years ago on The Quilting Post.  We put those up on the design wall, and Paige picked out random sashing strips from the 2 1/2" strip bin.  I cut to size, and Paige is doing the sewing and pressing.  We've got all three columns done, and one of the sashing strips between columns attached.  Three more long seams and it's a top.  We'll probably try to get those stitched today, and figure out what to put on for borders.

A good way to spend a snowed-in weekend.

Numbers for the week:

Used this week:             5.08 yds
In this week:                   0 yds

Also this week, I've been knitting hats.  I found the Hats for Sailors group.  I like the idea of providing warm knitted hats for our sailors, so have decided this is a project to support.  Hats are such a quick knit when what I've been working on mostly is socks.  So far, I've finished 2 hats, and am about half-way finished a third.  That will probably be completed today while I watch some football.

Stash Report for 17 January 2016

Lake Cabin was bound this week.  And the Jelly Roll Race was quilted, with binding on ready to stitch down to the back.  I'm thinking I want to hand-stitch this binding, so it's still waiting.  Next up has been a new start - Vintage Stars from one of the Kim Brackett quilts.  I did purchase black print for the background for this one, but used 2 1/2" red strips that I cut up from left-over FQs from the hunter's star.  All the blocks are finished for the Vintage star, and am mid-way through assembling the top.

Sunday Stash Report - 10 January 2016

My focus for the year is to use more fabric.  I will control my purchases, but expect to have significant incoming because of transfer of my mother's stash.  I'm off to a good start.

Out for the week:     5.22 yds
In for the week:        0 yds

Out for 2016:           5.22 yes
In for 2016:             0 yds

Net for 2016:           5.22 yes USED

Fabric used was for borders and backing for Lake Cabin.  This one was quilted yesterday, and the plan is to get it trimmed and bound today.  I'd also like to get the next backing put together and get another top loaded on the longarm.
