Stash Report - 5 January 2014

Some quilting this week!  It's been a long time since I actually quilted anything.   Life keeps getting in the way.

I had started making a set of Scrappy Trips blocks (freebie pattern on Bonnie Hunter's website) when they were presented as a mystery in my guild retreat last May.  That was the last time my sewing machine had been plugged in until December.  Before Christmas, I got out the machine and made a couple more blocks, then finished making my Christmas placemats.  On New Year's Eve, I pulled out my strips and more blocks.  I decided 20 blocks was enough for a lap quilt.  Those got assembled into a top.  On January 2nd, while
DH was out of town, I pulled out something to use for a backing, got that made, and loaded all on the longarm.  After much hemming and hawing, I decided to do continuous curves quilting on all the 2" finished squares.  I finished the quilting around 5, just in time to go down and make dinner.  It felt good to get something accomplished, and I only had trouble with thread breaking when I was traveling right to left.  Can't find the rough spot yet that is shredding the thread.

This morning, I trimmed the quilt and made binding from a piece of yellow leftover from a baby quilt that was still hanging out on the cutting table.  That is now machine sewn to the top waiting for me to hand stitch to the back.  Maybe while watching football today.

So, numbers for 2014:

In this week:         0      yds
Out this week:      3.55 yds

In YTD:                0      yds
Out YTD:             3.55 yds

Net for 2014:        3.55 yds (used)

I'm off to a good start; I'll have to see if I can keep this going.  Life is so much better when I quilt!
